Greystones love-in with Holyhead continues unabated, with two of our finest representatives, and Stephen Stokes, headed over to our Welsh twin town’s summer festival.
Much fun was had by all, even if Ross McParland was only there for the duty free fags.
With the festival itself boasting a Carnival Parade, concerts, a breakwater race, majorette competitions (Stokes came third), a charity run and cannons blasting out into the sky as part of the Heart Of Oaks re-enactment, sure, is it any wonder everyone in the pic above has such big happy heads?
Our Holyhead hosts treated the travelling threesome to plenty of other local treats too, including a tour of the Holyhead Town Theatre, the South Stack Lighthouse, the famous harbour of Beaumaris, the beautiful Trearddur Bay, Holyhead Maritime Museum, the Menai Straits and Llynnon Mill.
Unsurprisingly, gang leader Kathleen Kelleher, the chain-smoking Ross and the baton-twirling Stokes lad slept all through the ferry journey home.
Kathleen wanted to let the good people of Greystones know that the fine Holyhead Santa will return to Greystones in November, for our annual Christmas Lights ceremony, and this year, The Man In Red will be accompanied by the Holyhead Male Voice Choir for a joint concert alongside the Newtownmountkennedy Male Voice Choir.
All of which will be supported by the newly-formed Greystones Municipal District Tourism & Twinning Committee, which comprises of four local councillors – Mags Crean, Tom Fortune, Derek Mitchell and Gerry Walsh.
