Planning Greystones Post-Lockdown

Latest press release from Cllr Mags Crean, issued on Friday, May 22nd 2020…

Our community and local business community have been challenged but also united in the face of the Covid-19 crisis. People coming together in response to a crisis is a key element in a community’s ability to survive but also recover.

Cllr. Mags Crean (Ind.) maintains that recovery will take creative solutions as only then “can we make the best of a bad situation’.

“At next week’s council meeting update via zoom, we will be discussing the issue of adapting the town infrastructure for social distancing. Proactive steps are required to protect both the public and local economy.

“It is crucial that our local businesses that generate local jobs and give our communities character, can survive and recover. It is also a key priority to protect the health and wellbeing of people, especially vulnerable groups in our community.”

Crean claims that “as we come out of lockdown, and as we await a vaccine, we need to be creative and prepare safely and securely for the future.

“Adjusting our pavements and parking areas to facilitate social distancing and pedestrian and cycle movement in our town and villages will be necessary going forward.”
