Back when Greystones was classy
t’s always a kick here at GG HQ when we stumble upon a fellow
chronicler of life in Greystones.
Yesterday, as we posted early shots of our once tree-lined main street, we got an email from one Sean Tierney – who, it turns out, has been pulling together old postcards sent from our seaside resort over the last century and beyond.
And not only does Sean meticulously capture and upload the striking images of Greystones on the front of these old postcards, but he also records the holiday messages sent from our shores and out into the big bad world.
You can view all of Sean’s wonderful work right here. Oh, and if you’re feeling in the mood for exploring Greystones of old, a good place to start is here.Â
Meanwhile, below is an example of just some of the magical missives in Sean’s collection, plus, as a treat, a Wills Cigarette Card from 1924.
