Following fire safety concerns in 2017 and 2018, Gaelscoil na gCloth Liath in Blacklion will undergo works to address those concerns over the coming years.
With that work expected to take years rather than months, temporary solutions will be installed at the Greystones school in the interim.
The safety work is being carried out at 40 schoolsaround the country, all built by Western Building Systems between 2009 and 2013.
The Greystones school was one of 17 schools in a group which was built by WSB but did not require initial precautionary measures. The work planned will largely take place during the summer holiday periods in 2020 and 2021.
“Safety has always been at the heart of our response to the structural deficiencies that were identified in these schools,” said the Minister for Education & Skills, Joe McHugh. “It will continue to be. Any permanent or temporary engineering solutions or precautionary measures that are advised by engineers as a result of detailed assessment and analysis of these buildings are being undertaken.”
Those precautionary actions are now being taken in Gaelscoil na gCloth Liath. Go raibh maith agat feck.
