The father of a young boy with cerebral palsy has just posted on social media today that the family car was stolen last night.
And inside that family car was the wheelchair, specially-adapted car seat and walking frame for his son.
The burglary took place overnight in Ashbourne, Co Meath, but, given how stolen cars tend to automatically head to neighbouring counties, we thought we should put the word out.
Here’s Rory Fitzgerald’s online call for help…
Last night, Kyle’s wheelchair was stolen. Our car was stolen at 2.50am in Ashbourne and contained Kyle’s wheelchair, specially adapted car seat and his Kaye Walking/Standing frame. The wheelchair is his only mode of transport and can’t be replaced for weeks. We NEED that back ! Please share this post in the hope they will leave it a place where it can be found and returned.
The car is of secondary importance but if helps locating the wheelchair it’s a White Kuga with registration 182MH958 – see picture below at the time it was taken. The people that took this will use social media. Get that wheelchair left somewhere and find a way to get a message to us. Insurance will sort the car but we are devastated about the wheelchair. He can’t do any of his activities without it.
You can get in touch with Rory through the Kyle’s Wish To Walk Facebook page here, or email him directly on firstname.lastname@example.org. Update: Car – and Kyle’s equipment – found!
