hen we first caught up with Emeka Meeks back in April 2021, it was clear that the man loved his job.

Having become a professional player at the age of 14, these days, Emeka is happiest when coaching a whole new generation of footballers to their full potential.

“There are just so many great players around here,” he says as we meet up today at Greystones train station. “It’s always a kick, starting a new camp, and meeting these kids who are just full of enthusiasm, energy and all that promise. The world is theirs for the taking…

“And that goes as much for the girls as the boys. It’s just a thrill to be a part of their beginnings…”

Having had his own early brush with fame, playing for professional clubs all across Europe, Emeka is well aware of just what it takes to go all the way in football. Both physically and mentally.

And that has meant his Modern Legacy Football Camps have become one of the most popular in Wicklow.
