Stand tall..
he rain stayed mainly on the plain as Greystones enjoyed yet
another fine St Patrick’s Day parade.
We headed down early, to the South Beach, to see this year’s participants getting themselves psyched up for the big event, and it
was a grand way to see the whole parade up close and personal.
The fact that Max kept wondering off to explore and literally stick his snout in where it wasn’t invited gave GG the odd scare that the little fecker might just get lost in the crowd, but Max knows his way around Greystones. And Greystones knows its way around Max.
As the fun got underway, we met up with Leo Ireton for a balcony view from Gordon and the gang up in goldfish.ie. Even though the room was jampacked with eejits – Hi, Simon! Hi, Caroline! – it was worth it. Especially considering Deirdre’s yummy Irish stew.
Be the holy, this couple really should consider moving into catering parties full-time.
There was plenty to cheer on in the parade itself, with – as is tradition every year – the kids once again far outshining the adults, one of the vintage cars needing a push, and great big industrial trucks with a single balloon on the aerial trying to pass themselves off as floats.
The lazy fecks.
You can view the proper people shots from the mighty John McGowan right here.
For now though, here’s just a taster of the town’s big day, including that walk through the parade just as it was cocked and ready to roll.
Well done to everyone involved – even the new generation’s Noble dumpster trucks – and you can check out the list of winners according to this year’s judges right here…
