Good Friday Procession 2016 12 (676x1024)
A reminder of a time before The Church of The Happy Pear became the new religion in Greystones, Good Friday saw the believers out on Church Road this afternoon, singing God’s praises.

Today being a religious holiday commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and his death at Calvary, this annual mass and procession is still a big part of many people’s lives in Ireland.

And there was something comforting about the sight of a group of Greystonians coming together and stopping the traffic for a celebration of their faith.

There may not have been quite as many people out on Church Road today as there were queuing at the off-licences yesterday, but, given that the church in this country is on its knees, their free-range Stations Of The Cross was strangely moving…

Well done for coverage of Ecumenical Stations of the Cross. I was there and it was indeed a moving experience. This annual Good Friday event always attracts huge local support. All ages come for the procession. Soup was served after the ceremonies in St. Patrick’s Parish Centre with donations going to housing needs. A very worthy cause these days.
