Cllr Stephen Stokes has warmly welcomed the community grants awarded throughout the Greystones Municipal District for 2022.
The aim of the Community Awards Scheme is to assist local community and voluntary groups, including sporting, arts and cultural organisations, that would benefit from small scale or once-off funding to support the groups’ activities. For example running costs or to develop a particular project.
Cllr Stokes stated, “We are fortunate to have so many amazing community groups in Delgany, Greystones, Kilcoole, Killadreenan and Newcastle. The Community Grants are a positive source of funding, that boost the impressive work of local organisations.”
Those in the money are Kilcoole Women’s Group (€300), Delgany Community Council (€300), Greystones Family Resource Centre (€500), Delgany Tidy Towns (€300), Wicklow Triple A Alliance (€500), 19th Wicklow Greystones Harbour Sea Scouts (€300), Making Waves Youth Theatre (€300), Greystones Lawn Tennis Club (€300), Kilcoole Men’s Shed ((€300), Newcastle Community First Responders (€500), St Patrick’s Community Greystones (€500) and Wicklow Aquanauts (€300).
Cllr Stephen Stokes thanked all of those who took the time to submit applications, and all the people who took the time to carefully review them. “What is particularly striking is the range of successful applications. It really brings to life the diversity of people who are improving the social, sporting and cultural fabric of our area. I really cannot thank them enough for their great service”.
The maximum award possible was €500. Successful applications are expected to be paid out via Electronic Fund Transfer before the end of July 2022.
