s some of the town’s teenagers have so eloquently put it over the past few weeks, there ain’t a whole lotta shakin’ goin’ on in Greystones for this generation.

Sure, we’ve got open fields, woods, the seaside, the Cliff Walk, the library, the 1,001 cafés and the odd mountain to climb, but, other than that, what have the Romans ever done for our kids…?

Well, as we await the construction of the soon-come Charlesland Youth Centre (thanking you, Cairn Homes) and as those Coolnagreina cats set about converting their street-front old home into a town centre hang-out for teens too, there are quite a few summer camps on the go in the town.

And some of them are aimed directly at our wild, adventurous and eager young teens. Camps like the Simply Music iPad Workshops down at Charlesland. Part of their Music Summer Camps double-whammy (the other being the very groovy drum freakout known as Summer Samba), the Simply Music iPad Workshops told you everything you needed to know about GarageBand, and how to become a one-stop hit-making machine from the comfort of your own cave.

And, thanks to those smart people at Music Generation, and smart thinking by the likes of local eejits Jessica Bird and Jennifer Whitmore, the entire week only cost €40 to join. The upcoming Summer Samba in August only costs €20. Which, hey, is pretty darn amazing value. Up with this sort of thing, we say.

We headed down as this very welcome new addition to Greystones wrapped up its first-ever week to talk with the Soulful Six who not only tackled the likes of Despacito, Sweet Home Alabama, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and, eh, a wacky Nintendo theme tune, but also got around to making their own min-movie while they were at it.

So, if you see any of these young guns out on the streets of Greystones, might be wise to get their autograph now…
