With the good people of Greystones having organised Charlesland coffee morning and cross-county motorbike rides to help raise funds for Jade McCann’s battle with a life-threatening condition, the plucky little fighter has decided to take matters into her own hands.
By releasing a charity single that she hopes will make it to no.1 this Christmas.
It was back in March that the 23-year-old Greystones girl was first diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called PEComa, finding out in July that it had spread to her lungs. This particular form of sarcoma is extremely rare, and Jade believes she be the only one in Ireland with the condition.
The fact that her cancer is incurable has only made Jade even more determined to live a full life, currently trying the drug Sirolimus whilst also visiting a healer and experimenting with alternative medicines.
And to keep her spirits up, and to help raise funds not only for her treatment but also The Gavin Glynn Foundation, Jade has now recorded a version of the traditional song The Parting Glass. Recorded by everyone from Liam Clancy to Ed Sheeran, Jade’s version has been produced by Tony McGuinness from Aslan and mixed by Ray Traynor at Jophiel Studios.
Released on iTunes this weekend, under Jade’s social media name of Jayda McCann, the single actually launches tonight, at Charleville Lodge in Dublin, where the music video will also be shot.
