Recognising that the lockdown has dealt a blow to many charities in Wicklow, Tesco have donated €12,000 to three of them.
The lucky recipients being Bray’s Open Door and the Mental Health Associations in both Bray and Arklow.
Launching the donations, Tesco Ireland CEO Kari Daniels said, “As the impact of Covid-19 runs deep into the communities around Wicklow, we want to continue to support those most impacted. At a time when charitable revenues are experiencing a downturn, we hope that dedicating yet another round of our €120,000 Community Fund will help these good causes to continue to provide invaluable services to those who need it most in our communities.”
Back in March, Tesco Ireland made over €270,000 Community Fund donations, including €50,000 each to ALONE, Age Action and Family Carers of Ireland.
Tomás Sercovich, CEO of Business In The Community Ireland added, “Whilst we are aware of the short-term impact of Covid-19 is having on society at present, the longer-term effect on those most at risk, such as people with mental health concerns, suffering from domestic abuse, experiencing food poverty or homelessness is likely to be acute.
“The Tesco Community Fun provides much-needed help now when it’s needed most…”
