One of Greystones’ most familiar – and friendliest – faces, Gunter Starke is sadly no longer with us.
Born on Saturday, August 11th, 1951, it was on Thursday, October 29th, 2020 that Gunter sadly passed, surrounded by his loving family.
And it was his loving family we turned to for some words on the man himself…
Gunter Starke came to Ireland from Horn Bad Meinburg, Germany in 1985, where he married Cathriona and they soon became parents to two sons, Gunter Jr and Kurt. He was much-loved around Greystones, Delgany, Wicklow and further afield.
A noted carpenter, Gunter took immense pride in his work. And not only was he a great husband and father but also a grandfather, doting on Ava Rose, Lucas, Kayden and Ella Rai. Sadly, Gunter was predeceased by one grandchild, Amelia.
A man who always had time for anyone and everyone, Gunter always willing to help. No favour was too big or too small.
Having lived in Kildare in his later years, helping in rehabilitation organisation Cuan Mhuire in Athy, Gunter Starke always saw Greystones as his home away from home.
The funeral of Gunter Starke will be held at the Holy Rosary Church on Tuesday, November 3rd at 1pm. Live webcam here, further details from Mark Kinsella Funeral Directors on 0872160740.
