As anyone who has to travel through this particular set of lights will tell you, the junction at Kindlestown Lower and Grattan Park is something very special indeed.
Seemingly designed by Wicklow County Council in collaboration with the Marquis de Sade, the frustation these torturously slow – and seemingly illogical – lights creates can often reach boiling point.
And sometimes, that frustration – waiting for minute upon minute upon minute for a light to change – can boil over.
Which may go some way to explaining the abundance of collisions at this Greystones black spot.
We’re campaigning for this particular junction madness to be rectified, but, in the meantime, another accident – a young man knocked off his bike and knocked unconscious this evening.
Occuring at approximately 6.45pm today, Thursday, July 21st, Gardaí blocked off the road as the unconscious boy was stretchered away to a waiting ambulance and the shocked driver of the car gave their account of the collision.
