We’ve been planning to catch the legendary Gordon for our My Greystones column for quite some time now – and the arrival in December of a fine biography by his loving sister, Ruth, should have sealed the deal.
But then, the site had to go into the garage, to get a serious engine overhaul, and we put Gordon’s story on the long finger.
Which is silly of us, given that we’ve been chasing Greystones icons with a passion verging on fan worship over the last year. Having convinced the likes of Mrs. Mooney, Dustin The Turkey, Leo Ireton, Frank Doyle and even Joe Sweeney to take part, perhaps the greatest Greystones icon of them all has escaped us. Hopefully not for much longer though…
We’ve sent off emails to Ruth Chipperfield, and to the publishers of her sweet book, Ballpoint Press, requesting some time with the legendary Gordon. So,fingers crossed.
In the meantime, go get a copy of the book, Gordon: Business As Usual. You won’t be disappointed…
Just hit either of the links below, or call into the bookshop in Greystones or Bray. Hit the pencil drawing (by Chloe Hanan) left to read Gordon’s My Greystones entry. Book cover photo by Salome Stephens Murphy.
