Great photos brings back my childhood. I’m visiting my parents at end of month. I’ll dig around for photos. Went to CBS till 84. Took swim lessons and played football all in Greystones
That would be both rock agus roll. Best email is photo@greystonesguide.ie. Cheers.
Any photos of st David’s from about 1969/1970
Loads. We just keep them hidden in a vault.
If we had ’em, kiddo, they’d be here. If you source any, let us know…
Paul, a further image that puzzled me until I got the magnifying glass out. The photo captioned St Kevin’s School Class of 45 puzzled me, not so much that I didn’t recognise any of the boys – after all they would have been at least four years older than me – but that I had no memory of any brick walled school with such large windows anywhere in Blacklion or Greystones. The shield in the foreground has the answer: ” Sraith an Iarthair” – Westland Row, where Jim, Conal and Terry Brennan each went to Secondary School after winning Wicklow County Council scholarships. Jim and I won ours in 1948.
In the 1949 pic of Brother Buckley’s class in Blacklion, Miklos Kos was a very accomplished breast stroke swimmer, a member of a Hungarian family who came to Ireland after World War 2, to the best of my knowledge, Miklos became an executive in ICL in Ireland before moving to Europe, also with ICL.
Fabulous photos nostalgic
Great to see those pics Pablo, you certainly dug up a few surprises! Keep up the good work 🙂
