Rachel Harper, School Principal of St. Patrick’s National School said, “Schools have been very restricted in their fundraising options this year and we wanted an event that would help raise money not only for our school but for all the schools in the community. I have spoken to many of the other principals and we are all excited to be promoting something that the whole family can safely enjoy together. The children – and the parents! – in our school certainly can’t wait for it…”
Kyle O’Connell, the man responsible for bringing the 45-metre-squared screen to town, is the Parent-Teacher Association Chair of St. Patrick’s and director of Irish Film & Television Services, said, “This will be the first time we have been able to enjoy something together as a community for a while. That this screen is the first of its size scale in Wicklow makes the drive-in very exciting indeed!
“We owe a big thanks to Grattan Evans, for providing the perfect location and we are very grateful to our sponsors who have already pledged their support: Just Eat, Spirit Motor Group, Derek Byrne Property Consultants, Camile Thai and Gleaming Clean, among other community partners.
Commenting on their sponsorship involvement, Just Eat Managing Director Amanda Roche-Kelly said; “Following the welcomed government announcement on the easing of COVID 19 restrictions, we are delighted to sponsor the Greystones Drive-In, which is providing a safe, socially-distanced and fun source of entertainment for families and the local community. To further add to the experience, we will be offering moviegoers 15% discount codes which can be used on the Just Eat app in local restaurants like Green Mango, Four Star Pizza and Indian Spice for a pre-theatre family meal or an after-movie treat.”
This is the first time this massive 45-metre-squared drive-in movie screen has been to Wicklow, the top of the range screen will be located at Priestnewtown, opposite Kilquade Cemetery on the 12th and 13th June.
