The very lovely Sarah from The Reading Academy has been in touch once again…

Open to everyone, Sarah & co also offer specialist instruction for struggling readers and children with dyslexia. The programme follows the Orton Gillingham approach; the oldest and most effective approach used to teach children with reading difficulties.

Here’s Sarah with the details…

The students learn strategies that teach them how to approach decoding and become a fluent reader. These are skills they will use for the rest of their lives. The programme begins with an introduction to basic sounds to ensure phonemic awareness is being mastered. This is a very structured and specific reading programme that has been designed specifically for children with dyslexia and struggling readers.

The instructor individualises instruction throughout the lesson while using a multisensory approach. She uses continuous monitoring to ensure all skills are being internalised. Parents are communicated with after each lesson and the skills are explained in your child’s text book.

Costing €315, for the full 10 weeks, with all materials supplied,  the new Greystones classes are Thursdays, from 3.45pm until 4.45pm, starting January 9th, in Kilian House at The Holy Rosary.

Places are limited so, if you are interested in securing a place, you can email info@thereadingacademy.ie with your details. You can also fill out the application form here.
