It’s getting tantalisingly close to that cool Coolnagreina youth club finally opening its door…
All that’s needed now for the Trafalgar Road hangout is the all-important kitchen to be fitted out, and, boom, the good teens of this town will have somewhere to go.
Who knows, they may even let one or two of the bad teens in. If they promise to behave.
As Jono, Clare and the gang pull together the final farthings to finish this much-needed addition to the town, there are one or two fun fundraisers being put together. Such as Over The Top, a gathering of such local sonic youth as James Fennell, Jack Mohan, Ellie Walsh, Isibeal Boylan, Isabelle O’Donovan, Grainne Bright, Oisin Kelly Keenan, Nadine Magee, Tom De Paor and Emily Farrell.
And given that this night of upcoming young local bands is being put together by the mighty Andrea Splendori, well, naturally, his feelgood band, The Sax Pistols, will be closing out the night. Singing old songs we love.
Taking place at The Hot Spot on Friday, May 24th, at 7pm, tickets are €10 for adults, €5 for students, and you can grab yours right about here.
Or you could just hang around the town until you bump into Andrea the Giant Softy…
If you can’t make that gig, hey, you can donate directly to the new youth centre right about here.
