aving grown up on Blackberry Lane, just at the foot of Drummin Hill, GG has always seen those iconic trees marking out their territory as our Hollywood sign.
They can be seen for miles as you near home, and they’re always a welcome sight.
And now, local photographer Jody Connaughton has captured them in all their glory. And created one of the sweetest presents you could give anyone with even a little history around these parts.
For those people who are not aware of the story behind the Drummin Trees, seemingly during the war, trees could be cut down in Wicklow for fuel, but these trees were excluded from such a fate as they were used as a navigation aid for pilots. Around here, you learn something old every day.
Available as a 78cm x 28cm print for €70, you can email Jody email@example.com further details.
You can find out more about Jody’s photography at his website page here, or his Facebook page here. You can also check out our Drummin Trees gallery here.
