itting very pretty in Greystones’ very own hipster district, The Boat Yard, there are plenty of good reasons to swing down to The Barrel Sauna.

Besides, you know, being very, very good for your skin, your breathing, and all those other life-enhancing thingys.

What we’re thinking about is not only the location right at Greystones harbour but also the outdoor wall showers, the indoor changing booths, the ample lounging space, and a distinct nearness to groovy food trucks such as Roots and Burrito Box.

And, eh, a dirty big pub, The Beach House, right beside you. For a different kind of sweats.

But, hey, enough of our witty, insightful flappin’. Here’s the official lowdown…

The Barrel Sauna opened in December 2021 in Dublin 8 and has quickly become the most popular authentic sauna experience around.

Having recently relocated to Dublin 6, The Barrel Sauna is nonetheless none happy with being the most popular in the big city – so, last month, it quietly opened in Greystones at The Boat Yard – and has slowly been getting the recognition it deserves from those who know a truly great sauna is a lot more than just letting off steam.

Being a sea swimmer is not a pre-requisite for entry as cold showers and plunges are provided along with covered private changing cubicles and lockers in the secluded walled garden within The Boat Yard.

The sauna sessions are on the hour and last 45 minutes with 15 minutes extra for changing at the end, so you can leave in a relaxed manner before the next group arrive.

The sauna comfortably holds ten people, sessions cost €15 and the whole sauna can be booked privately for €120.
