Young Jim Smith has been in touch about the monthly Greystones Archaelogical & Historical Society’s talk.
And this time, it’s those dastardly vikings that are the subject of January’s get-together.
Take it away, Jim…
The January meeting of the Greystones Archaeological & Historical Society will take place at the Family Centre beside Holy Rosary Church, Greystones at the usual time of 8pm on Thursday, 17th January.
The speaker will be John Kirby, with an illustrated talk entitled Viking Dublin Uncovered: Archaeology lifts the Veil. John will give us an overview of how archaeology has completely transformed our understanding of the Dublin vikings. He will dispel some of the myths surrounding the vikings and show that contrary to popular perception, they acted in many respects as a civilising influence around the time of the birth of the city of Dublin.
All are welcome to attend and there will be a €2 charge to defray costs. If you can’t afford to €2, have a long, hard look at how you’re living.
