Sinn Féin To Commemorate Séamus O’Brien MurderFebruary 15, 2020
The years – and the box-office – have been kinder to Matt then Ben, but there’s no denying that these two Boston buddies will forever bask in the glory of their truly Hollywood breakthrough.
Working together whilst still at Cambridge College in Massachusetts, the besties burst upon the scene with 1997’s Oscar-winning, box-office-slaying Good Will Hunting.
And now, 23 years later, Affleck and Damon are about to make another feature film together. Writing alongside writer-director Nicole Holofcener (Oscar-nominated in 2019 for Can You Ever Forgive Me?), the duo are adapting Eric Jager’s 2004 book The Last Duel, which centres on the last officially recognized judicial duel in France, which occurred on December 23rd, 1386.
Behind the camera is the often great Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Gladiator, Alien, Thelma & Louise), whilst also in front of it is the Oscar-nominated Adam Driver, star of The Marriage Story, Girls and, of course, the recent Star Wars run.
Due to go before the cameras within the next two months, The Last Duel is actually shooting right here in sunny Ireland. And that means, of course, Wicklow, given how timelessly beautiful the place is. Other locations include Dublin, Meath and Tipperary. For when Scott needs to reflect the deprivation and depravity of France in the late 14th century.
And if you’d like to be a part of The Last Duel, open casting auditions are being held at Liberty Hall in Dublin on Friday, February 21st, between 10am and 6pm.
The movie’s producers have said everyone and anyone is welcome. Even you ugly feckers.
