atest press release from the Wicklow Choral Society, issued on Friday, May 5th 2023…
Wicklow Choral Society is back in full swing and looking forward to its first full concert in four years.
The concert will take place on Sunday May 21st at 7.30 pm in St Patrick’s Church in Wicklow.
The concert is a wonderful mix of old and new. In the first half, the choir will sing short works by Mozart and Bach, and then Haydn’s Little Organ Mass. After the interval the tempo and tone change completely with an exciting new work by American composer Dan Forrest, the intriguingly titled Requiem for the Living.
Wicklow Choral is delighted to be singing under the direction of new Musical Director James Bingham and to welcome guest soloist the much loved soprano Sarah Power. Sarah is from Bray, boasting an international reputation with appearances in concert venues all over the world.
The orchestra will be led by Alan Smale, former leader of the RTE Concert Orchestra.
The choir is delighted to be back after the long break from singing imposed by Covid. So, come along and celebrate this rich evening of choral singing.
Tickets are €20/€15. Available from Earls Newsagent in Wicklow and at the door.
