The Garden Of Ireland Vintage Car Club 29JAN23
he winter always feels like a good time to reflect, but it’s also a good
time for new beginnings.
So, if you’re stuck in a rut, or just sitting here in limbo, there’s plenty of new sensations out there in this fine little town of ours.
There are plenty of smart people out there too, who have realised that now is always the perfect time to check out the beautiful trails out there.Â
For those who might still feel like playing it safe, there’s our extensive archives of vintage photographs, histories and interviews with the good, the bad and the incredibly utilitarian to work your way through. Only took us ten years to pull together, and we’re far from finished putting all the jigsaw pieces of Greystones’ colourful past together. You can map your journey right here.
And do think about your neighbours who have been trying to keep their businesses alive during these uncertain times, first through two years of lockdown followed by a war-induced recession scare that has seen energy prices soar. From shops and restaurants to theatres and beauty shops, look around your town before going online. You lazy, clicktavist feck.

You can do your tummy and your town a favour by checking out our many award-winning, mouth-watering foodie HQs too – including our ever-expanding menu of takeaways here. And don’t forget our incredible restaurants and cafés knocked off their feet by the lockdowns – go give them some love here. And give that couch a well-deserved night off by having a night to remember at The Whale. And The Hot Spot. And de pubs!
So, you know, we can all actually talk to each other in real-life 3D.
Also, check on any vulnerable neighbours. Pretend they’re your dad, or your mum. Only, these OAPs won’t keep reminding you about all your bad life choices.
There are also a number of groups and individuals always ready and willing to help the elderly still self-isolating in our community. And you can join them. Speaking of which, the number for Alone, the charity helping the elderly living on their own, is 0818222024.
We’re also putting up free music mixes regularly on GG, which might just help get your groove back, with a little singing, a little dancing, maybe even an old school party or two…
You can also keep up with what’s going on in in the town below and our general Greystones news right here.
And now that we’re almost fully out of the frying pan and into those fiery energy bills, remember – give yourself a good five or six hours each morning to mentally prepare for the day ahead. Works for the Flynnstones.
Naturally, given the constant changes due to so many stoned hippies living in this town, do check any event below that you’re interested in before putting on your shoes…
