Here’s the lowdown…
New Irish online children’s boutique Pom Pom Pirate is making quality, sustainable clothing in gorgeous prints and vibrant colours accessible to young families across Ireland
Dressing young children in high-quality, beautiful clothing that allows them to express their individuality shouldn’t cost the earth. That’s the belief behind new online children’s boutique Pom Pom Pirate, created by Irishwoman Danielle Murphy.
Danielle inherited a love of fashion from her own mother, who would scour boutiques around Dublin and on trips to Belfast in the 1980s, to find unique items for Danielle and her sister when they were young. When Danielle grew up, she ended up working behind the scenes in the fashion industry as a make-up artist in London for many years before returning home to Dublin.
After becoming a mother herself in 2013, Danielle went in search of beautiful, well-made garments for her children that she couldn’t find on the high street, sourcing apparel on trips to Paris and Madrid, featuring Liberty prints and smocked bodices.
Now, her new online store, Pom Pom Pirate, aims to offer a curated selection of high-quality clothing for boys and girls aged from right up to 8 years old. Featuring cheery prints in vibrant shades, the Pom Pom Pirate collection marries childhood innocence with modern styling – slow fashion, cool streetwear for boys and girls, plus a capsule collection of special pieces to be treasured and passed down to siblings and extended family.
Every piece is made from ethically-sourced, sustainable fabrics – organic where possible, and made from natural fibres – all designed in Europe.
And with prices starting from €18.50, Pom Pom Pirate aims to be accessible to a wide range of young families.
Among the brands currently stocked are Ireland’s own Dainty Bear (creators of cute yet durable leather baby and toddler shoes and accessories), organic label The Bonnie Mob, Babidu, and Babybol, with Petit Oh! and organic label Turtledove London soon to join the collection.
