Troubled Woman Granted Bail Over Harris Office Damage

aving gone missing for 24 hours last Saturday and sparking a Garda appeal, Andrea Ogilvy has now been granted bail having admitted damaging Tánaiste Simon Harris’ Bray office.

Currently residing in Bray, the 44-year-old woman appeared at Bray District Court following the execution of a bench warrant.

It was at a previous sitting that Ogilvy admitted to failing to comply with gardaí, using threatening, abusive and insulting behaviour, and two counts of criminal damage.

It was on July 22nd last year that the accused was arrested after she threw an unknown object through the window of Simon Harris’ constituency office on Quinsborough Road, causing over €300 in damage.

According to Darragh McCann in The Bray People, the court also heard of a shop sign subsequently being damaged on that date.

Sentencing had been adjourned to allow the accused to receive mental health treatment, and this week, her solicitor, Michael O’Connor, stated that his client was currently awaiting a psychological report.

Judge Paula Cullinane grant bail on the condition that Ms Ogilvy reside at Newcastle Hospital to “receive the help she needs”.
