I can see your 650 homes from here…
ith a notice discreetly tucked away in The Irish Examiner, The
Cosgrave Group were once more hoping to build a shedload of houses up at Fassaroe.
Part of a plan for 2,200 houses in a western expansion of the town, this was Cosgrave’s second shot at the prize, their application last year being shot down by An Coimisiún Pleanála. And this time out, Cosgrave withdrew the application on May 27th 2026.
There was also to be a new 2.4km road linking the N11 to Ballyman Road, along with a pedestrian and cycle route, with a bridge to Upper Dargle Road. Plus, there would be a 15.3 hectare district park, along with a shop and café kiosk.
The objections last year by ACP included concerns over uncertainty around public transport services and urban sprawl, along with overall compliance with planning policy.
These are all concerns that Cosgrave had set out to address in their latest application, which was set to be decided on September 9th.
