Up at Greystones’ Temple Carrig School, they have a strange habit of winning…
Amongst the gongs of the last 12 months, not only did the Junior Rugby Team win the Goddfrey Cup in March, but the school’s all-girl band, Taken, took first place in the town’s first-ever Stepping Stones: Battle Of The Bands.
These kids even rock at doing absolutely nothing. Talk about a bunch of little over-achievers.
Still, when the school’s 1st Year Gaelic Football Team went up against Kilcoole’s Coláiste Chroabh Abhann last week, for The Wicklow Cup, it was genuine thrill for all involved when they won 2-11 to 1-04.
So, well done to the whole team – Sean O’Neill, Fionn Melia, Colm Condon, Spencer O’Connor, Patrick O’Connell, Max Patrick Scully, Niall Burke, James Nicholson, Joseph Prendergast (Captain), Ruairi Parker, Oisin Shanahan, Colm Short, Oisin Coffey, Mo Diaw and Chrisopher Stewart, along with subs Evan Cooke, Charlie Sullivan, Jack Wolohan, Callum Phelan, Keevan Doyle, Luke Dease and Michael Gray.
We should thank their coach, Mark Crean, but, as you can see from our interview this afternoon, apparently he had pretty much nothing to do with the win…
We’ll have more on the lads’ June 2nd fundraiser up in Éire Ă“g – just as soon as we can find out the info…
