Proving just how loved the late Kilmacanogue father-of-three Bobby Messett was, two memorials have been organised for the coming months.

The innocent family man shot dead during a botched attack at Bray Boxing Club on June 5th.

On Friday, July 13th, there will be an over-35s memorial match in Bobby’s hometown, whilst on Friday, August 24th, there will be a golf classic at Charlesland Golf Club.

The football match takes place at Ryder’s Field in Kilmacanogue, with kick-off at 6.30pm, followed at 9pm by live music in Plucks, and an auction and raffle at 10.30pm. For those who would like to help the fundraising on the day through sponsorship, you can contact Alan Prendergast on 0866041232.

The Bobby Messett Memorial Golf Classic on August 24th sees a 4-person Scramble team costing €240, bookable through Trevor Carr on 0863286300. Tee box or green sponsorship is available this year for €100 also, through Liam Finnerty on 0866074821.

Special shout-out to Mark Kinsella Funeral Directors, who have donated €1,000 to the Golf Classic, and have also entered a team, whilst special mention has to go to Helen and Nick at Plucks, for helping out enormously with both memorials, and to Charlesland Golf Club, for being particularly generous with green fees.

Naturally, the hope is to make these games a fitting tribute to Bobby ‘The Dazzler’ Messett, and annual celebrations of a man much missed.
