e first announced it back in October 2015 – the 11,000 square feet of Greystones beauty known as The Old Convent was saved from going to auction by The Department Of Education.
And now, today, over two years later, the documents have finally been signed.Â

Minister Simon Harris confirms that the Department of Education have now fully completed the process of purchasing the convent lands next to St Brigid’s NS, Greystones.
The school, the board of management and many in the Greystones community have been campaigning for the Department to purchase the building and lands for a number of years as it is located next to the school which has limited space.
Having worked with the school and the Department of Education to make this happen, Minister Harris was pleased to confirm the process has been completed, “I am really delighted to be able to confirm that the Department of Education has completed the process of purchasing the convent lands for St Brigid’s NS, Greystones. This is excellent news for the school and I know it will be very much welcomed by the whole community.
“I now look forward to working with the school on plans for the building.”
