ith Met Éireann’s yellow warnings coming fast and thick over the past few weeks, it’s not all that shocking to see yet another two pop up on our radar early this morning.

What is surprising though is that, of late, it’s been all about a visit from that rarest of Irish mythical figures, The Sun.

There’s a yellow advisory warning for high temperatures from 12am Wednesday 8th to 12am on Friday 17th, which Met Éireann describes as a prolonged spell of very warm and hot weather.

For the yellow warning, it’s maximum temperatures in excess of 27°C combined with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected.

The potential impacts are water safety issues due to increased use of lakes and beaches, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and heat stress.

Says ME, ‘Daytime maxima will widely exceed 25 degrees with values reaching the high 20s, and possibly 30 degrees, in places. The UV Index is expected to be very high. Warm and humid nights will occur with minima of 15 degrees or higher. There is the chance of thunderstorms developing on Wednesday and Thursday.’
