Jo Deithrick, Lady Captain. Fergus O’Brien, President and John Conway, Mens Captain.
t’s one of the definite signs that summer is just around the corner, and
the annual unfurling of the flag at Greystones Bowling Club certainly got the weather on Sunday.
It was a sunny day followed by 24 hours of rain, but, hey, this is Ireland.
With over 80 bowling club members, there was a crowd to cheer on the captains Joe Deithrick and John Conroy alongside Club President Fergus O’Brien as they raised the flags to herald in the coming season’s fun and games.
Fergus thanked everyone there for attending, and all the members for their hard work around the clubhouse. He also gave a special shout-out to his Chain Gang, who meet every Wednesday to make sure that everything – from the lawn to the bowls, and beyond – were all maintained and ready for action.
And all that planting and decorating was on display this fine Sunday, with Honorary Secretary Margaret Williams keen to point out that new members are always welcome. You can find out more about that right here.
In the meantime, thanks once again for John McGowan, who swung by with his trusty camera for this grand day out…
