fellow poet Sheila Fitzpatrick to bring her Poetry Chair to Greystones for the weekend.
And there was nothing we could do about it.
Roaming Ireland since 2014, this inspiring little piece of sitting room furniture begun its journey at Sheila’s curiosity shop back in her native Limerick.
Sparked by her involvement in the Reading At Random project for Limerick’s turn as City Of Culture, an impromptu move outside after closing time drew an American tourist (who recited Robert Frost’s The Road Not Taken), followed swiftly by some Chinese visitors, and their favourite poems.
Since that fateful day, The Poetry Chair that has heard many a poem in many a different language from all around the globe. And seated many a bum too.
Its tour of Greystones hit The Plaza Market and The Boat Yard Gallery today, and the locals brought not only their poems but their songs too.
