Proving that not all lawyers are soulless, money-grabbing, ambulance-chasing swines, three buddies from Enniskerry have just launched a free podcast that explores some of the more curious cases to go before the courts.
That Gavin, Pierce and Alex are law students gives them the know-how and what-the-feck to explain just why it is the law appears to be an ass.
Called Legally Fond, the podcast is ideal, the trio tell us, for anyone who might be studying law, or for those who have even a passing interest on how justice is and isn’t served.
Explains 21-year-old Gavin Dowd [right], “We looked at the explosion in popularity of true crime podcasts – and the genre in general – over the past number of years, and realised that none of these podcasts were exploring the legal aspects of cases. We think that there is an appetite among people to learn about the law, but we know from our studies how inaccessible and confusing it can be at times…
“The idea of Legally Fond is to discuss interesting, quirky legal cases, and take out all the jargon and the Latin.”
With a new show every Wednesday, you can find Gavin and co on Spotify here, or on Apple here, and explore the full notes on each case covered over on the Legally Fond blog here.
