Eh, Where’s The Garda Anti-Crime Bike…?

It’s been at least a year since GG has seen the An Garda Siochána anti-crime bike parked at Greystones railway station, and we’ve begun to fear the worst…

Have you seen anyone going around with a blue-wheeled bike that makes a nee-na sound whenever it goes over 5 miles per hour?

If so, Maria and the gang down at the station would love to hear from.

If only they’d done the smart thing, and engraved a name and contact details on the bike itself, something that local do-gooder Alice O’Donnell has decided should be a free service in Greystones.

Mainly because, just about every other week, some poor fecker has their bike nicked. By a dumb fecker.

With similar workshops proving a major hit in Dublin, Alice has asked the Chief Superintendent to arrange free security engraving of bikes in the Greystones area. Not only will such engravings act as a deterrent, but it will make it a lot easier to identify and recover any stolen bikes.

And if there are any persistent bicycle thieves, Alice said she’s looking into the possibility of having them engraved too.
