How Pristine Is Your Pooch…?

Young David O’Reilly from Greystones Tidy Towns has been in touch about their latest effort to make people that little bit more aware of both ends of their beloved mutts.

The hope being, of course, that the more times you tell a fecker to do the right thing – such as pick up after their dog – the better the chance that they might eventually listen.

Having taken place all over de town last Saturday, May 26th, between 10am and noon, Greystones’ Dog Awareness Day saw volunteers at the harbour, the railway station, St Crispin’s Cell (the town’s unofficial new dog park) and beyond, offering advice, pats on the back and slaps across the cheek for the town’s dog owners.

As with previous Greystones Tidy Town campaigns, it’s a simple case of what a wonderful world this could be if everyone just looked after their own patch, pooch and empty crisp packet.

Naturally, it’s only a small percentage of the town that reckon it’s fine agus dandy to have strangers pick up after them, or to dance around their four-legged friend’s Milk Tray samples.

So, let’s all reach out to them as a community, offering them love, support and encouragement.

If that doesn’t work, feel free to bawl the feckers out in public. Might be a good idea to get your hands on one of those old potato guns too.
