atest press release from Jennifer Whitmore TD, issued on Friday, July
10th 2026…
The planned upgrade would see additional capacity provided on peak time services, while off peak frequencies would be increased at certain times of the day, making the service more accessible and convenient for passengers travelling between Wicklow and Dublin.
“Reliable public transport is essential for people travelling to work, education, healthcare appointments and other everyday activities. Any increase in capacity and frequency on the 133 route will make a real difference for existing passengers and encourage
more people to choose public transport,” said Deputy Whitmore.
While welcoming the plans, Deputy Whitmore noted that the improvements are not expected to be introduced in 2026.
However, I am hopeful that the upgraded service will be rolled out in 2027, and I will be keeping a close eye on its progress,” said Deputy Whitmore.
“Public transport investment is vital if we are to meet the needs of our growing communities.
