Greystones Restaurants Make Ireland’s Top 101 List

wo of Greystones most popular restaurants have been named in the freshly-minted 101 Great Irish Restaurants list.

Put together by The Sunday Business Post, the list celebrates Ireland’s growing reputation as a foodie nation.

And in recent years, Greystones has been giving Dublin a run for the title of the country’s foodie capital.

Both Chakra By Jaipur and The Harbour Kitchen have been highlighted as two of Ireland’s finest eateries, with the Business Post pointing out the fact that, when it reference to the latter, this seafront town was ‘bizarrely lacking in a restaurant offering good fish and seafood‘ until renowned chef Sheerin Wilde came to our rescue.

“We are absolutely thrilled to make this list,” says Wilde. “Thanks to all the judges, and a special thanks to my crew in The Harbour Kitchen. It is their hard work that has brought this about.

“And a huge shout-out to the people of Greystones for their continued support. Thank you!”

Also basking in the glory is Chakra, with the judges this time waxing lyrical about chef Santosh’s Nepalese chicken, the Himalayan venison (‘It’ll put hairs on your chest‘) and the Goan prawn curry. The restaurant’s post-Covid makeover gets a major thumbs up too, with its addition of new booths and a bar, and that serious upgrade of the cocktail menu.

“It’s always extremely gratifying to know that people appreciate what we do,” says Chakra spokesperson Colette Hankey. “Everyone here loves creating good food, and everything from the taste to the setting is carefully thought through. We believe that a visit to Chakra should be an experience, and an unforgettable one at that…”
