Local Heavy Hitters Meet With Greystones Media Campus Execs

A local Greystones business group has proposed an Irish-led co-development partnership to Hackman Capital Partners aimed at accelerating delivery of the planned 44-acre Greystones Media Campus in Wicklow.

Representatives of the Greystones Media Campus Response Group (GMCRG) met today with senior executives from Hackman Capital and Ardmore Studios today at Ardmore Studios in Bray.

Attendees included Hackman Capital Vice Presidents Alister Boucaut and Brian Glodney, alongside CEO of Ardmore Studios Elaine Geraghty, GMCRG Chairman Dermod Dwyer, and Greystones community representative Ross McParland.

During the meeting, GMCRG acknowledged Hackman Capital’s continued investment in Ireland’s production infrastructure, including Ardmore Studios in Wicklow and Troy Studios in Limerick, and welcomed the company’s ongoing commitment to the Irish market.

Hackman Capital also reiterated the importance of long-term policy certainty following recent Government enhancements to tax supports for the film, television, VFX, and unscripted sectors.

However, GMCRG emphasised that timely, visible progress at Greystones is now critical to maintaining project momentum, protecting local community confidence, and strengthening competitiveness in attracting major international productions.

To demonstrate immediate market readiness to global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Apple, and Amazon, GMCRG proposed the early delivery of a show suite and the speculative development of an initial 18,000 sq. ft. sound stage as a catalyst phase for the wider campus.

Dermod Dwyer, Chairman of GMCRG, said: “Greystones Media Campus Response Group recognise the global headwinds facing the screen sector and welcome Hackman Capital’s continued engagement in Ireland. However, our ambition remains clear – to deliver a world-class media campus that supports high-value employment, expands national production capacity, and creates long-term educational opportunities in the region.

“To ensure long-term goodwill and community confidence are preserved, it is vital that local credibility and tangible momentum are restored without delay. With more than 8,700 children currently enrolled in local schools across the Greystones area, building a future proof local creative economy with high-value creative careers is essential. Local co-development provides the ground-level agility needed to bring this site to life.”

A central element of the proposal includes the development of a formal partnership with the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) to establish a direct graduate pipeline into the campus, supporting skills development and workforce sustainability within the sector.

Dermod Dwyer added: “GMCRG stands ready to collaborate with Hackman Capital to help realise the full vision for the Greystones Media Campus. Building on today’s constructive engagement, we have offered to meet with Hackman Capital leadership in California to progress this opportunity.

“By strategically linking Greystones with existing facilities at Ardmore and Ashford Studios, and embedding third-level education through IADT, we can establish a Wicklow Coast Screen Cluster of international significance with a connected ecosystem for production, talent, and innovation.”

Greystones Media Campus Response Group said it looks forward to further engagement with Hackman Capital in the coming weeks.
