The one very good thing you can say about Insomnia – beyond its always-friendly staff – is that their meal deals always make for darn good value.
Of course, all that really matters, as GG brings The King out to lunch (isn’t he always?) in our latest café crawl around Greystones and beyond, is the food any good…?
It was still early enough for that second breakfast feeling, and so, ordering toasted baps, The Artist Formerly Known As Alan Adamson opted for the full sausage, bacon and egg, whilst GG had to settle for a simple ham bap.
Which, to be honest, turned out to be something of a major disappointment, having all the richness, thickness and texture of an unloved washrag recently used to clean a rasher pan.
Elvis was happier with his chunkier choice – it was the last breakfast bap, dammit! – but even he was left wanting more. Much more.
Here’s hoping it was just an off-day at Insomnia, given that this well-run franchise must be well aware of what de peoples want when it comes to their quick and easy bites and bolts of coffee.
Still, as always, the question remains – did Insomnia deliver a lunch that was fit for The King…?
You can check out our previous lunches with Elvis right here. And if you want to catch The King live, he’ll be the special guest at the Benny Taglienti fundraiser on Thursday, November 8th. Details here.
