e describes himself as an investing enthusiast, and it’s an enthusiasm that’s seen Rory Gillen build up his investment advisory firm over the years to being one of Ireland’s most sought after.

Which is why UK-based Quilter Cheviot coughed up millions for GillenMarkets back in January.

For his latest venture, local lad Rory is setting up an investment club here in his native Greystones, the idea being to help men, women agus our younger generation learn all about saving and how to invest using the global stock markets.

As Warren Buffett says, the key to being successful is making money while you sleep.

Having started out in 2005 offering investment training courses, then adding a subscription-based newsletter in 2009 and then investment management services in 2014, Rory also published two rather helpful books, 3 Steps to Investment Success (2012) and The Path to Financial Freedom (2022).

So, when it comes to putting your money where your future is, this lad very much knows what he’s doing.

Here’s the lowdown…

The aim of this new investment club in Greystones is to provide a safe environment for those who have an interest in learning more about the principles of sound investing and who can save on a monthly basis.

Learning how to save and invest is not a luxury, it’s a core life skill, yet nothing is taught about it in school or university.

While bank deposits have always provided a guarantee of your money back, returns from them have been miniscule for some time, and over the long-term have always lagged the returns from the global stock markets. There’s a simple reason for that which club members will learn about and gain confidence from.

The ideal member is:

⦿ Interested in learning about saving and investing
⦿ Earning (part or full-time) and in a position to save a minimum of €100 a month
⦿ A patient investor taking a long-term view and disinterested in speculating
⦿ Willing to pay an annual membership fee of €25
⦿ Looking for a social evening

Meetings will be held in Dann’s bar from 7pm to 9pm on the last Friday of each month come September, with an early get-together taking place May 25th. The investment meeting will last a maximum of 1 hour with the second hour dedicated to informal discussions around refreshments!
