New Hooray For Greystones Initiative Launched

A new destination initiative, Living the Greystones Way, is bringing together local businesses, hospitality providers, community organisations, experience providers, and residents behind a shared vision to further strengthen Greystones as one of Ireland’s most attractive places to live, visit, work, and experience.

Led by Fatima Alvarado, founder of Greystones Wellness Hub and editor of Greystones Magazine & Beyond, together with Dave O’Reilly, Destination Greystones Activist and local community advocate, the initiative aims to support local businesses, increase visitor activity, strengthen community connections, and showcase everything that makes Greystones unique.

The initiative is being developed in collaboration with local stakeholders, hospitality partners, Tidy Towns support, community organisations, and sustainable tourism advisors, with a focus on creating a stronger and more connected destination experience for both residents and visitors.

Importantly, Living the Greystones Way fully supports the efforts of the Cliff Walk community and all those working towards the reopening of the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk.

Rather than replacing existing initiatives, the project seeks to complement them by developing additional opportunities that encourage people to discover, experience, and spend more time in Greystones while supporting local businesses and the wider local economy.

Our Approach

These are being delivered through:

⦿ Greystones Magazine & Beyond: showcasing the stories, people, businesses, and experiences that make Greystones unique.

⦿ Living the Greystones Way Website: As the one-stop shop helping residents and visitors discover the right experience for them, with direct booking links to trusted local businesses, practitioners, hospitality partners, accommodation providers, events, activities, and experiences.

⦿ The Greystones Visitor Map & Destination Guide: helping visitors explore the town, discover local businesses, and experience more of what Greystones has to offer.

⦿ Curated experiences and partnerships: bringing together hospitality, accommodation, food, coffee, wellness, lifestyle, outdoor activities, tourism providers, and community initiatives into One Connected Destination Ecosystem.

Together, these initiatives aim to create a more connected visitor journey while supporting local businesses and encouraging people to spend more time in Greystones.

Looking To The Future
Inspired by successful destination models across Ireland, the project aims to build on Greystones’ existing strengths and create a more connected visitor experience.

Destinations such as Glendalough attract over one million visitors annually through a combination of visitor infrastructure, accommodation, transport links, experiences, and coordinated promotion.

Living the Greystones Way is exploring how Greystones can further leverage its own unique assets, including its coastline, hospitality sector, food offering, community spirit, wellness experiences, accommodation providers, and proximity to Dublin.

The initiative is also exploring sustainable and experience-led tourism opportunities that encourage visitors to engage more deeply with the local environment, community, hospitality sector, and businesses. Working alongside sustainable tourism expertise, the long-term ambition is to support a model of destination development that delivers benefits for visitors, residents, businesses, and the local economy alike.

Several pilot collaborations and experiences are already in development, including accommodation partnerships, coastal experiences, visitor packages, food and lifestyle collaborations, wellness offerings, transport partnerships, and destination-focused experiences designed to encourage visitors to spend more time in the town.

Celebrating Greystones
The initiative will officially be unveiled on 2 July 2026 at The Whale Theatre during a special celebration evening marking the launch of the Summer 2026 edition of Greystones Magazine & Beyond.

More than a magazine launch, the evening will be a celebration of the people, businesses, organisations, and experiences that make Greystones such a special place.

The evening is designed to bring together residents, businesses, community leaders, and visitors to celebrate Greystones, build meaningful connections, share ideas, and be part of an exciting vision for the future of our town.

Fatima Alvarado commented: “Greystones already has extraordinary assets: hospitality, nature, community, experiences, and businesses that people genuinely want to discover. Our goal is not to create something new, but to connect and amplify what already exists, helping more people discover, experience, and spend time in Greystones.”

Dave O’Reilly added: “This is about creating a shared vision for Greystones and building on the fantastic work already happening across the town. By working together, we can create new opportunities, strengthen our local economy, and further establish Greystones as a destination people actively choose to visit and experience.”

About The Leadership Team
Fatima Alvarado brings more than 20 years of experience in project management, procurement, partnerships, and business development, having worked with international organisations. She holds an MBA in Project Management and has spent recent years building community-led initiatives, partnerships, events, and experiences across Greystones.

Together with Dave O’Reilly, local stakeholders, hospitality partners, community organisations, and sustainable tourism advisors, the initiative aims to create long-term value for residents, businesses, visitors and more!
