Pastor Goes Pop For Pieta

aving addressed his brother Anto’s passing with One Day back in 2019, Greystones’ Luke Carrig is now releasing a single for Pieta.

And fittingly enough, the former Raglans rocker has named it after the suicide and self-harm charity’s annual sunrise walk, Darkness Into Light.

This year’s walk takes place on Saturday, May 7th, whilst Luke’s return to music follows a hiatus that included finishing his educating, nurturing his young family, and last year becoming pastor of the Nazarene Church here in Greystones.

Of the latter, Luke – who returned recently after 10 years in the US – plans to work with colleague Tim Evans in remaking and remodelling the Burnaby Lawns church into a community facility, stating recently, “I was raised in this church and somehow I’ve now been given the responsibility of leading it. Our town is growing exponentially in population, and with these changes come a number of challenges – including increased demand access to amenities such as preschools and facilities for community programmes.

“We believe at Nazarene we have a significant contribution to make.”

With plans also for a playground and coffee shop, the Nazarene Church hopes to mark its 31st year in Greystones through some major changes.
