As to the inspiration behind the song, Woods explains, ‘Losing a grandparent is something that most of us can relate to, and there are probably more people than usual going through it right now due to the recent pandemic. I wanted to counter this somewhat dark subject with some contrasting light though. So, while the music is upbeat, and full of lush layers of guitar and a buoyant violin motif, the lyrics and singing are more wistful and plaintive…”
It’s what grandad would have wanted. Especially if he was a lover of 1960s, tear-tinged, guitar-driven power pop.
