aving launched in 2023, Let’s Play Wicklow is all about getting your little brat outdoors and playing games.

Wicklow County Council – in conjunction with Healthy Wicklow, Wicklow Sports & Recreation Partnership, Sláintecare Healthy Communities, and the Wicklow Libraries – have a pop-up playground visiting various locations around the county from July 6th to 10th.

This government-led initiative aims to promote play for all children, fostering active and healthy lifestyles while encouraging community engagement and physical well-being.

On Monday 6th, it’s The Bandstand in St Mary’s Park in Arklow (12.30pm-2pm); Tuesday 7th, they’re at Market Square in Blessington (1pm-2.30pm); Ballywaltrim Library in Bray is the place to be on Wednesday 8th (12.30pm-2pm); Thursday 9th, it’s Burnaby Park in Greystones (12.30pm-2pm), and on Friday 10th, De La Salle Pastoral Centre in Wicklow Town (10am-12pm).

The goodies on offer include games, giant bubbles, music and, hey, ‘plenty of active fun‘!

Also, there are Let’s Play packs which have been made available to the public to rent for free at their local libraries, and they include beloved classics such as Snake and Ladders, Jamanga Towers, Sports Day Set, Horseshoe Pitching, and Big Fish Small Fish. At least, there was in 2023. Have to hope they’re still on the menu.
