St David’s Students In The Frame

On Tuesday the 12th of May, St. David’s were delighted to open their doors to the public to showcase the wonderful talents of our students.

This was also the grand unveiling of the Reflect 120 Art Installation in the school, an exhibition which commemorates the favourite memories of students from every year, representing an emotional and heartfelt addition to the school.

The exhibition showcased artwork collected throughout the year from talented students across all year groups. Art enthusiasts wandered around the foyer, travelling through displays of various art disciplines ranging from ceramics to painting. The art department put on a vibrant and diverse show of the incredible work they’ve been doing all year.

Starting with the budding artists, first year students displayed Photography Colour Compositions, a class-based project highlighting various photography techniques. Ms Gore’s TY Fine Art class got to show off their Geometric Abstraction Acrylic Painting and their sketchbooks. Some of these students had never done art before in Junior Cert, but TY allowed them to improve their creative abilities.

There were also a number of showstopper ceramic structures as 5th year students exhibited Ceramic Slab-built Vessels and their sketchbooks. These abstract clay structures would certainly catch your eye!

A massive congratulations and well done to the Visual Art Department, made up of Ms. Carey and Ms. Gore for organising facilitating such a fantastic evening, supported by Ms. Cronly.

A huge well done is owed to the talented young artists for constantly creating such inspirational work.

Thank you to everyone who came to admire and appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the night throughout the year.
