In the shops just in time for, eh, Easter, Temple Carrig Tales is a freshly-minted collection of short stories and poems from the Greystones school’s Creative Writing students.
From Rita McCann’s Magical to Jamie McGrath’s Insane¿, this inspired anthology – which also covers gothic and historical fiction as well as film scripts – could very well be, as the cover boasts, a glimpse into the future of Irish writing.
Not that we’ve actually read the book yet, of course. We couldn’t figure out where the batteries went. Plus, we’ve been busy writing top-of-the-range, Grade A Guide stories all evening. Whilst catching up on some bad TV.
But, hey, after talking with three of the authors at tonight’s book launch in Temple Carrig – Thomas McGlynn, Alannah Bradshaw and the aforementioned Ms McCann – we’re pretty sure that genius almost definitely lurks between the covers here.
Along with, quite possibly, a little madness.
Costing just €10, Temple Carrig Tales is available from the school itself or, if they’re smart, the Greystones Book Shop.
