A Happier You Just A Clothes Throw Away

Each year slimming world groups across the UK and Ireland launch the big Slimming World Clothes Throw in their groups and here in the Republic of Ireland all our donations go to the Irish Cancer Society.

Since 2022, when the group was in Newtown and I was a novice consultant, it’s been an initiative close to my heart as I lost my beautiful Mam to cancer the same year.

In 2022 our amazing members donated 47 bags that were easily loaded into two cars and dropped to the local store in Bray, which at the time ment the world to me as each bag has an average value of €30 we had raised €1,410 for a wonderful cause.

Jump forward to today and in our new and amazing home of Byrnes Pub of Kilcoole and two van loads collected by the wonderful Daniel on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society and we’ve exceeded my wildest dreams and our members have donated 750 bags exactly which amounts to €22,500 for this great charity.

Mind-boggling but not a total surprise as our members are incredibly generous and have grown the throw each year exponentially.

We’ve had several members donating 10 to 15 bags on their own due to the fact they’ve needed a whole new wardrobe. Shedding all those layers and letting go of the past all the while raising money for an amazing cause.

I’m so proud and grateful that our members go all out every year for this project and who knows maybe we will get to 1000 bags next year. For now however I’m one proud consultant and I wish the Irish Cancer Society all the best with their newest stock as they continue their amazing work.
