The two ship’s anchors near the harbour have been badly in need of a protective layer of paint for some time, so Greystones Tidy Towns consulted the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government guidance on how to refurbish and protect historic ironwork.

They then got permission from Deirdre Burns, Heritage Officer in Wicklow County Council, to carry out a repair and paint overhaul of the anchors and the ancillary bilge pumps, etc, on Cliff Road.

Five members of Greystones Tidy Towns carried out the work, while Greystones Sailing Club provided the funding for the purchase of the paint from Brady’s.

Great work by Dave Emerson, Ian Finnegan, Maurice Carey, Richard Grainger and Peter Burke, and yet another project delivered by the incredible team at Greystones Tidy Towns.
